Bespoke Driver Training
THEORY (IN CLASSROOM) LASTING APPROX. 2 HOURS (ACTUAL TIME BASED ON NUMBER OF TOPICS SELECTED) FOR UP TO 8 STAFF
- Legal issues/general issues
- Short introduction into defensive driving
- Discussion on what problems are encountered whilst on the road
- What makes a good driver?
- System of vehicle control
- Position/speed
- Gears/acceleration
- Braking
- Skidding
- Zones of visibility/observation links
- Observation/hazard awareness
- Driving environments
- Attitude/ability
- Taking corners safely
- Night time driving
- Weather conditions
- Fatigue
- Bad practices, most common accidents, their causes and prevention
- Duty of care
- Personal security
- Breakdown, accident and vehicle evacuation techniques (practical vehicle evacuation can be provided if required)
Accessibility Training
- Disability awareness/assistance
- Safe use of passenger lifts and/or ramps
- Wheelchair and passenger restraint equipment (hands on practical can be provided if required)
- Legal requirements and good practice
- Breakdown, accident and vehicle evacuation techniques (practical vehicle evacuation can be provided if required)
IN VEHICLE TRAINING LASTING APPROX. 1 HOUR PER DRIVER
- Inspection of vehicle
- Vehicle engine/cockpit familiarisation
- Eyesight check
- Assessment drive to initially assess individual’s driving ability
- Short commentary drive by instructor to demonstrate how far driver should plan ahead and what to look for
(if requested) - Completion of assessment drive with tuition to help improve observation, anticipation and forward planning
A WRITTEN REPORT AND CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE WILL BE PROVIDED FOR EACH SUCCESSFUL DRIVER
